The Sunday Talk – Smarter Marketing

Monday morning and I am a bit sad as I am going back to work. But Craig Campbell just made my day with this small little thing. Look at him, he is so sweet. But if for whatever reason small thing can’t make you happy you need a big massive piece of cake.

Wisdom: If a small piece of cake can’t make you happy then you need a massive piece of cake.

There is only one SEO

I don’t agree that companies are stupid. It’s more to do with SEO agencies and SEOs trying to sell a different idea. If your agency is good at technical SEO they will try and sell you the technical SEO idea. If your agency is good at producing content they will try and tell you that content SEO is the way forward. But the reality is: there is only one SEO and it’s a mixture of both.
There is only one SEO because we all compete in the same place called Google. And it’s not us it’s them defining the rules.

Another client…another technical v content SEO conversation…

The struggle many digital marketers encounter with SEO comes as a result of a burning urge to put various tactics into separate boxes instead of seeing each as an aspect of one overarching strategic process.

We fight to feel alive

It’s Thursday and I just came back from work. On my way back I was thinking. This morning I woke up with a very bad headache. And straight away there was this message in my head. Today I am not going to work. Today I am not going to the gym. Today I am definitely not doing this Python assignment. But then I was thinking.

Wait a minute. Did you wake up this morning? Are you still alive? Cause, unless you are dead, defeat is only a function, a chemical reaction in your weak brain. Unless you are dead you should never stop fighting. And you should definitely never take for granted the fact that you woke up today and you are still alive.

The age of smarter marketing

Friday morning and I am on my way to an event organised by Epiphany and Google. You know Google my friend and my enemy at the same time. And it’s not like we don’t like each other. It’s just that sometimes we do not understand each other.

Now that I am back I can tell you that this meeting was pretty good. Lots and lot of insights. Epiphany, thank you very much for inviting me. To summarise this meeting I can use one word automation. Automation everywhere in Digital Marketing. But.

But although I am a big fan of new technologies and trends I wanna warn people. Forcing a new trend into your plans that isn’t suitable for your market is as bad as a lack of awareness. The key for me is to take time to truly – and I will repeat this one – to truly understand how a new technology or trend can benefit, can help your company or brand and only then, only then implement it into your workflow.

The Sunday Talk

It’s Sunday again and so much has happened this week that if I have to summarise it, it’s gonna take me an hour. Instead, I wanna talk about something that’s happening next week: the biggest SEO conference in Europe BrightonSEO. The search marketing profession, guys, is defined by change. Tactics that work today are outdated next quarter. Platforms launch and platforms disappear on a monthly basis.
Smart digital marketers know that in order to stay competitive and the best versions of themselves, they need to train. They need to train hard.

That’s why elite digital marketers like you attend BrightonSEO: the conference that speaks to an elevated level of experience, skips the basics and addresses the nitty-gritty of the digital marketing universe.
I’m gonna be there. And if you happen to see me come and say hi. Hi, Omi. Don’t be shy. You know me – you’ve got the problems and I’ve got the solutions. See you soon, guys. Peace.
